Lone Pine has a number of streams, lakes, bunkers and hazards to make it a challenge for pros and hackers alike. The majority of the holes feature elevated and sloped greens on the par 72 course.
The front nine is a target course because of the water hazards coming into play on many holes. The back nine is a bit easier because it has fewer hazards. All 18 holes have fairly open fairways, and their greens are medium-sized and semi-fast. The signature hole is the island green #5, a 474-yard, par 5, which provides a spectacular view of the main lake.
Course Records: Jeff Dyer set the “new course” record from the "championship” tees with a “64” on Thursday, June 29, 2006. His nines were 30 - 34. Women's - (Hillside/ Brookside) by Gina George, 7/08/85 .
The original 18 holes were built in 1969, designed by Xenophon Hassenplug. The greens and fairways are both Bent Grass.
PRACTICE FACILITIES Lone Pine has one of the finest practice facilities in the greater Pittsburgh area. The 12 acre complex consists of three large, manicured and grassed tees; a practice sand trap; two practice putting greens; and a unique short game area complete with a practice pitching green.

RED, WHITE, BLUE AND GOLD SYSTEM FOR TEE BOX POSITIONS
A Red, White, Blue and Gold system is utilized for tee box positions. On the tee box, red markers denote ladies’ placement, white for standard, blue for professional and gold for seniors (age 70+). Different color flags designate pin positions. A red flag is used for a hole location at the front of the green, while white is in the middle and blue is at the rear.
